Oxymorons

I said oxymoron, goofball! We have had a lot of fun discussing oxymorons. Oxymorons are phrases that use contradictory terms. In your opinion, is "a small fortune" an oxymoron? Explain your answer. Additionally, I'd like for you to provide your own example of an oxymoron.

  1. To me "a small fortune" is an oxymoron.I believe this because there is no such thing as a small fortune only big fortune. My oxymoron would be peaceful Childersburg Middle School.I say this because Childersburg Middle School is not peaceful.

  2. I think "a small fortune" is an oxymoron.I say this because a fortune is alot of money so how could it be small? My oxymoron would be quiet Ryan because I loce to to tal all the time.

  3. A "small fortune" to me is an Oxymoron. I think a "small fortune" is an Oxymoron because a fortune isn't small. My Oxymoron would be alone in a crowd. You can not be alone and be in a crowd.

  4. I think "a small fortune" is an oxymoron, because a fortune is something big and small would not describe it. My oxymoron is "open secrets" because open is for everyone and secrets are for a few people.

  5. To me a small fortune" is an oxymoron. I believe this because there is no such thig as a small there's omly a such thig as a big fortune. My oxymoron would be to have a great school year. I say this because everybody has a great school year.

  6. A small fortune is an oxymoron because a fortune is a lot of money. Small means little, and fortune means a lot or a big amount of money. Another oxymoron is bad luck.

  7. I think "a small fortune" is not an oxymoron. A fortune could be small if for example you had a small collection of something and its not worth a million dollars but it is worth about one thousand dollars. An oxymoron would be something like dead livestock.

  8. A small fortune is an oxymoron because if it's a fortune it can't be small, and if it's small it can't be a fortune. Example: She is pretty ugly.

  10. To me "a small fortune" is an oxymoron. I think it is because a fortune is a large amount of something. Small however is the opposite and is someting tiny.
    My oxymoron is " That bump is a little big don't you think?"

  11. A "small fortune" is an oxymoron.To have a fortune is big because you didn't have to have it. My oxymoron is devilish angel.An angel ccouldn't be a devil because an angel is good.A devil couldn't be an angel because a devil is bad.

  12. To me "a small fortune" is an oxymoron because if you have a fortune it is big not small. My oxymoron would be Bad luck. I say bad luck because you cant have luck and and it be bad at the same time.

  16. "Small Fortune" is an oxymoron. I think this because a fortune is big so there i no way it can be small. My oxymoron would be "Active Mondays." This is my oxymoron because Mondays are lazy and boring so there is no was it can be active.

  17. I think that "a small fortune" is an oxymoron. I think that it is an oxymoron because fortunes are usually big and they are not usually small. My oxymoron would be Small Tantrums because tantrums are usually not small they are usually big.

  18. I feel that "a small fortune" is a oxymoron because I have not ever heard of a small fortune and usually when you say fortune it means a lot. so in this case it is a oxymoron because you can not have a small fortune. My oxymoron is Peanut Butter

  19. I think that "a small world" is a oxymoron. I think this because fortunes are big not small. If you got a small fortune you would not believe it because it would be something that is not that serious. Another oxymoron is "Big Baby." Because baby's are not big.
